This is a 10 week online course, in which participants will learn ahow to share your message through the creation of stunning, professional and informative digital stories. Participants will receive 3 ECTS upon completion of the course.

For ease and flexibility, this course can be completed asynchronously, but does include 3 optional synchronous sessions and two feedback loops in order for students to improve and execute their best work.

The course is divided into 5 sections:

  • Chapter 1: Introduction to Digital Storytelling and One Health.
  • Chapter 2: Script Writing.
  • Chapter 3: Storyboarding.
  • Chapter 4: Implementation.
  • Chapter 5: Final Feedback and Certificate.

Learning objectives

By the end of the course students should be able to:

  • Understand the concepts involved in digital story creation.
  • Discuss the role of digital storytelling in medicine and public health.
  • Comprehend one health concepts and recognise examples of One Health in media.
  • Recognise different writing techniques/styles and the purposes they serve in varied contexts.
  • Develop and edit scripts and storyboard templates.
  • Create a digital story using pageflow.

Requirements

  • Selection strategy: Students should write a motivational letter of 150 words explaining why they want to take this course as well as one potential topic they are considering for their digital storytelling project.
  • Number of participants: 20.
  • Certificate/ECTS: 3 ECTS and a certificate.
  • Language: English.
