The "Energy Production" workshop aims to provide an introductory understanding of the energy production in the context of climate change mitigation.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the comparison between various energy sources and their production, as well as the physics involved in the different processes. Additionally, each source will be discussed in relation with its potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Theoretical lectures will take place in the morning and will be open to remote participants, while the practical sessions in the afternoon will be open to on-site selected candidates (up to 90) from Paris-Saclay University only, and consist in a student project related to energy production understanding, modeling, or on production and storage solutions. Selection of candidates will be based on pre-requisites in physics, environmental science and on motivation. For online participation, undergraduate students will be prioritized.

Competences

  • Critical thinking
  • Knowledge into action
  • Creativity and problem solving

Requirements

  • Selection strategy: The first students with adequate physics background to register will be accepted for the course.
  • Number of participants: 100.
  • Certificate/ECTS: All participants will receive a certificate of attendance. On-site participants from Paris-Saclay University (Basic Physics Curriculum) will have the opportunity to receive 2.5 ECTS.
  • Language: English.
