By immersing into both conceptual work and practical exercises, the course participants will develop the ability to forge and sustain valuable relationships, leading to increased opportunities and a stronger presence in the knowledge economy.

Content and Methodology

This dynamic course is specifically designed to equip doctoral candidates with the essential skills to excel in teamworking and networking within both academic and professional contexts. Understanding the pivotal role that collaboration and professional connections play in today's research environments.

The course provides an in-depth exploration of strategies to build and nurture effective teams and expansive networks. Delving into the core components of each skillset, the course focuses on effective teamwork and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, communication, and trust in teamworking.

Simultaneously, with regards to networking, the course addresses the best practices for strategic networking, professional visibility, interdisciplinarity, and the cultivation of deeper relationships. By navigating these components, candidates will actively refine their teamwork approaches and networking acumen, ensuring they are well-prepared to contribute to and lead within multi-disciplinary teams. Ultimately, this course not only enhances doctoral candidates' immediate academic collaborations but also sets the foundation for their future success in the global labor market.

Upon completion of the course, PhD candidates will acquire:

  1. The ability to integrate and apply principles of teamwork and networking to enhance research collaborations and academic relationships.
  2. Skills in leveraging practical exercises for developing advanced collaborative techniques and networking strategies, aimed at academic and professional advancement.
  3. A deep understanding of effective communication within teams and across professional networks, alongside strategies for personal and professional reinvention.
  4. An ethical framework for conduct within collaborative and networking contexts, emphasizing integrity, respect, and professional ethics.
  5. Competence in adapting to various networking environments and utilizing diverse perspectives to foster innovation and continuous team improvement.

Requirements

  • Selection strategy: All participants must be admitted to a PhD program at an EUGLOH partner institution. Selection will be made on the basis of a short motivational statement. Minimum 2 participants from each EUGLOH partner.
  • Number of participants: 20.
  • Certificate/ECTS: 1 ECTS.
  • Language: English.
